PREMIA Short Course on Cloud Computing: From Textbook Fundamentals to Actual Combat

Cloud Computing” is increasingly influencing the daily lives of  ordinary people, and is also reshaping the business running models of modern industry companies. This short course shall cover 1) the fundamentals of cloud computing, including virtualization, distributed processing (e.g., MapReduce, Hadoop), and trust issues (e.g., privacy, security, lock-in), 2) practical demo on building a video-sharing cloud application, and 3) three invited industry talks to share their successful cloud computing based business experience.

A Postdoc researcher position is available in the Machine Learning for Bioimage Analysis Group, Bioinformatics Institute, Singapore. We are seeking a highly motivated applicant to develop novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms for solving bioimage analysis related problems, including but not restricting to segmenting, recognizing, and tracking cellular and sub-cellular objects from microscopic images problems that are increasingly important for current biological sciences. We have been collaborating with leading biologists in the field and there are ample opportunities to publish high impact research work.

We are a funded research group in the School of Infocomm, currently working on developing innovative early intervention computer based solutions for children with special needs by leveraging advanced multi-touch and computer vision technology.

Successful candidate will be involved in actual design and development of the intervention solutions and is expected to make a significant contribution to the R&D of advanced 3D gestural & facial interaction techniques and other novel forms of computer vision User Interface (UI) for enabling children with special needs to intuitively manipulate objects within the developed intervention solution.

Fully funded Research Associate position at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore

A fully funded research associate position is available for candidates with a keen interest in the broad areas of system identification, and in particular, statistical signal processing, information fusion and Bayesian methods. Suitable candidates would potentially hold a Ph.D degree in engineering or applied math, and are expected to have a strong mathematical background, respective skills, and a passion to conduct a cutting edge research. This research is planned for 3‐years and would be carried out under the guidance of Prof. Avishy Carmi in the school of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, NTU.
